Cosmopolitan

This origins of the cosmopolitan are somewhat disputed. It is likely that the drink was created independently by different bartenders since the 1970s.

Bloody Mary

Back in the early 20’s at Harrys New York Bar in Paris, “Pete” Petiot mixed the spicy Bloody Mary for the first time. Whether it was really named after the Tudor Queen who Butchered protestants is unclear, but you’d be hard pressed not to like it.

Margherita

Most drinks legends place its birth in America’s Old West, during the Gold Rush days. According to the most romantic version of the story, a bartender in one of the frontier towns created it in honour of his “gal”, who shielded from a bullet then died in his arms.

Mojito

Sloppy Joe’s, El floridita and La Bodeguita del Medio are Havana bars renowned both for the drinks they invented and the famous names who imbibed them. Ernest Hemingway frequented all three establishments, because writers could buy drinks on credit there. One of these was the Mojito – a sure cure for writers block.
